Mt. Kilimanjaro

Mt. Kilimanjaro is located in Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania. Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. Kilimanjaro has three distinct volcanic cones Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Unhuru Peak located on the volcanic cone of Kibo peaks at 19,341 feet above sea level. Kilimanjaro is a stratovolcano. It's two peaks Mawenzi and Shira are extinct and will not erupt again while on the other hand Kibo is dormant and can erupt again. The last eruption was roughtly 360,000 years ago but the last recorded activity was recorded around 200 years ago.

  1. I've always wanted to see Mt. Kilimanjaro, I've heard it's breathtaking. I was wondering if there were any tourist activities around the area? I sure there'd be camping, but can you hike the volcano? or is there a good chance of erruption from kibo?
